I think the access to virtual collaboration and communication has an impact on civics because people can get more information about it, and easier access. The process of designing and researching our game helped us develop our opinion because we know what it's like looking up all of that information, and trying to find the correct version of it.

My Civic Engagment IIII

Researching and designing your game has shown you how many different ways the same information can be presented to an audience. Based on your Globaloria game-making experience, how do you feel about the way news and other sources might similarly manipulate information about civics? Do you have any advice for other students who want to seek out reliable media outlets? Please write 4 or more sentences.

I personally feel that it's bad how the news and other sources manipulate information about civics. I think that they should tell the truth, and only the truth. There is no need to lie about things, and give everyone the wrong idea of something. If student are seeking relieable media outlets I'd try government operated websites, this should be anything ending in ".gov" atleast if you go to one of those you know it's the complete truth.

My Civic Engagment III

Student teams from the function, ideals and citizenship community all asked questions this week dealing with the role of cooperation and collaboration in civic engagement. As a member of the ideals community, share one wiki artifact from your Team Page and the story behind it where you engaged in collaboration. How does this relate to civic ideals?

One wiki artifact from out team page is our paper prototyping video. Megan, Jacqueline, and I all three took part in the creating of this prototype. Megan talked in the video, I video'd and edited, and Jacqueline played the game and turned all of the pages. This relates to civic ideals as all of us working as a group.

My Civic Engagment II

How well do you believe the average American citizen understands US Ideals and how they are applied in government? Why does it matter?

I believe that the average American citizen doesn't understand pretty much any of the US ideals, or how they are applied. I know I don't. It is an important matter, but most people don't care. Sometimes I think about caring about them, but it's just something else all of us as a whole would have to learn.

What Ideals concept is the hardest to teach in your game, and why do you think it's difficult to understand? How does your game effectively teach this concept?

I think it is the hardest to teach about the constitution. I think it is difficult to teach due to it containing so much information. Our game is effectively teaching this by having part's of the constitution with blanks in the paragraphs left out, and a word bank to the left with a word or words to fill the blank with.

PROGRESS!

We are doing so well in this class lately! Yesterday Megan, Jacqueline, and I got our "Paper Prototyping" video done, and today I brought my laptop and saved the video to it, and made a title and credits in "Windows Movie Maker" then published it so I can take it home and convert and upload it to my wiki and our team page, even though we already have a rough draft on there. Anyway...I hope we soon start on the design of our game, it'd be nice to win that contest, but I doubt we would. =/
